Pre-Kindergarten to Grade 12 Educators
BC’s Curriculum
In 2016, the province of British Columbia launched a revised curriculum for students in Kindergarten to Grade 9. In 2018, the Grade 10 curriculum was implemented, and the Grade 11 and 12 curriculum was finalized in 2020. The redesigned curriculum focuses on personalized, hands-on learning to acknowledge and foster students’ passions; this inquiry-based approach to learning promotes curiosity and enhances student engagement. The BC Ministry of Education has also updated the Early Learning Framework for early childhood educators, StrongStart BC facilitators, early years’ professionals and community service providers.
In addition to essential concept-based learning, and literacy and numeracy foundations, the curriculum focuses on the core competencies of communication, thinking, and personal and social responsibilities. With opportunities for interdisciplinary study and collaboration, students are offered flexible learning that is relevant and will help them to thrive in the future.
Our various program offerings (listed below) were (re)built in response to this updated curriculum in BC. Programs and courses include a wide variety of opportunities, including concept-based approaches to learning, innovative interdisciplinary teaching, core competencies embedded in classroom practice, leadership to support student achievement and Indigenous worldviews and perspectives to support all learners.
